Week 68 — One for the dogs
- I managed to get a booking with a tattoo artist I have been keeping an eye on for a while now to get a tattoo of Barkly and Crumpet :D The guy was incredibly lovely and such an incredible artist. The entire process took around 3 hours (including an hour of working out placement, size and just chatting). The only painful part was adding the few bits of white highlights over the existing dark areas — but I was pretty much drifting off for the rest!
- I did some more bits and bobs over at Curtin next week to prep for getting the insulation folks in. There was some exterior brick work that had some pretty large gaps in for water to get in, so I patched all that up. I initially thought the 1/8th of a tube of no-more-gaps we had left would be enough, but went to Bunnings anyway on the way over. And thankfully I did, because I ended up using the whole new tube plus what remained in the old one.
- WWDC was this week, and it looks like it's going to be an exciting year! Formatting text in Messages was my "finally" moment this year. I have been writing my texts as markdown for years and though I don't need to explain what
_this_
means anymore, it'll be nice to be able to actually emphasises text in a nicer way. I'm not too jazzed by some of the AI things that were introduced, but the ones that aim to make Siri better are super welcome! I just don't look forward to a future where my AI generates an email so your AI can summarise it. At that point, what are we even doing. - I made some updates to the blog too this week and implemented a first pass at some Speculation Rules. While I've gone back to Safari as my main browser again, I was able to notice some pretty decent perf bumps in Arc while I was testing things to make sure everything was wired up properly. - We've been emptying out our closets and washing clothes in preparation for the move™. One of the boxes stashed away had some of Abby's old soft-toys in it. Barkly has now claimed them as his own, and couldn't be happier at the brand massive haul of things he now has to play with 🙃/
