Week 75 — Welcome, Sebastian
It's been a while! And for good reason (I think anyway ;) )
Last week, we welcomed our first Son in to the world! Both Mum and kiddo are doing well and we've all been bonding over the last week or so, which has been lovely. The transition to parenthood was super quick, and juggling care of the dogs while we were still in hospital was a bit of a challenge, but we got there in the end, and if the dogs could understand me, they would have heard me praising them a million times over for bearing with my sporadic absence (and only pooping inside once!).
I can't wait to introduce this little human to Star Wars (the good ones), all the good music, and boardgames — and for him to promptly trash them all 😂.
I'm also super grateful that we're able to both be off work and spend some solid time with this munchkin — it would be incredibly stressful if either of us needed to be working while we were also finding some solid footing with this new life. Paid parental leave is definitely a thing we should be protecting in this here country.
In amongst preparing for and welcoming a new family member, we've managed to also find some folks to help us with our renovations. The place was gutted a while ago, and I spent the last few weeks clearing out trash from inside and outside to make sure our tradies can get stuck in!
In my down time, I have been chipping away at Dragon Age: The Veil Guard. This is a slight return to form from the folks at BioWare, and I hope this is the beginning of a more cohesive team that can eventually produce something that is akin to Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins (though the market for those kinds of games is definitely not there anymore).
