On "Turning the Tables on AI"

Some solid takes on the common use-cases for AI "stuff". It's refreshing to see some well thought out use cases for generative AI that don't result in lifting the output and passing it off as ones own.

More of an AI mentor or colleague than an assistant.

Take aways β€”

  1. Wouldn't it be awesome if AI could use its context to ask leading questions to help us think more deeply about something?
  2. If AI does generate something (especially text) that is useful or good, cite it as such.
  3. Ask AI to be the critic of your writing that humans can sometimes shy away from β€” but then challenge what it suggests.

Critical thinking can be a practice that is easily lost without regular use. Offloading it to AI would be a terrible way to give up the opportunity to grow and reflect.
