Week 81 — Mother’s Day 💐

  • Another longie this weekend — we had our quarterly refresh day today. Abby and I spent this weekend packing more boxes and moving them in to her Mum’s place so we can get some folks in to hopefully take our current place off our hands. While not immediately refreshing, it is soooo good to not be hemmed in by boxes any more 😂. And now we have a good sense of how many van loads we’ll need to move the remaining things when the tennis are done.
  • But that wasn’t the only special thing this weekend ;) It was also Abby’s first Mother’s Day! Sebastian bought her a jumper and we took her out for breakfast — though one of us fell asleep in the car, so we had to improvise with take aways lest we starve to death waiting for a wake up.
  • During the week I caught up with Hugh for lunch. We got on to the topic of AI somehow and the magic of VSCode + Copilot in agent mode. Having very little time after work these days, I had totally missed that this was even a thing and so was super intrigued after hearing about all it can do. See, I have a project at work that requires a lot of refactoring, (like, a lot a lot). And this is one of the few cases that I have been considering AI / LLMs as a suitable tool to cut down the busy work and not send my whole team insane. As it turns out, Copilot and GPT-4.1 are incredibly good at this kind of task — especially as is the case for our work — when you have a well defined and structured format for the code it produces. So while it’s not 100%, yet, even getting to like 70-80% is a huge boon for the team’s sanity. So fingers crossed we can get up to 90% accuracy with some small adjustments here and there to our prompts and instructions.
  • This week Sebastian has started to push up on his hands and lift his butt more while doing tummy time — so kinda nice that we are mostly box free if he does start to crawl ;)
