Week 78 — Pretty exhausted, hbu?

  • I spent most of this week in Melbourne for work. We had our (now annual) product kick off with all of the folks who work to build the product across the world. It's always really nice to see the people we work with every day outside of a small Zoom window, and get to talk about things longer than the window of time we have for meetings. But it is also quite exhausting after ~3-4 days of social time, not to mention being away from the family for the longest time since October was pretty lonely. All in all, great week, would do it again, and hopefully a pet emergency doesn't cause us to require one of us to stay home next time!
  • While in Melbourne, I stayed on Lonsdale Street (almost parallel to where we used to live on Little Lonsdale Street almost 10 years ago now). It's pretty amazing to see how much has changed and what survived the pandemic. This little cafe that opened just as we left was gensoes, but The League of Honest Coffee was still around. The grounds around Wesley Uniting Church are now also easily accessible via Little Lonsdale (and make for a pretty nice place to stop for a coffee).

  • Speaking of pet emergencies — Barkly's leg has healed incredibly well. The wound has closed, and he's putting weight on it again for most of his time walking (he sometimes limps around when trying to move quickly). It's pretty amazing how we can so quickly and easily repair the bodies of our little fury friends.
  • Sebastian has also been making a bunch of pretty awesome developments. He can pretty much hold his head up on his own now, he's doing some wobbly sitting, having a good old laugh when he sees our faces and started just babbling to himself when he's not otherwise occupied. The babbling is super cute, and there are glimpses of consonants and vowel sounds in his muttering, so it's pretty cool that we're getting to hear a sneak peek of how his voice may one day sound ❤️.
